Lean into Love

Raechel Morrow

The most repeated directive in the Bible is, do not fear. It is clear; do not fear. There are only two energies that live inside of us, FEAR and LOVE. That is it, and everything else falls in between those. So that means there are two ways of being and responding in life.

The fear energy directs you to move away and remain incomplete. You choose to hide the parts of you that need nourishment and, most of all, LOVE. The love energy draws you to move in. So when you fear, lean in. Lean in to push past yourself, lean in to move past our prejudice, our differences, our religions, our races, and our divide. Move to pass the divide of one over the other.

If I had a magic wand, we would all be seen, heard, and allowed for just how we are. No one would hurt for being the “other.” The fear is entirely against our birthright and the innate nature of being human. The ironic part of the hurt caused by the “other” is it’s a lie. THERE IS NO OTHER. It is an egocentric move to divide and attempt unsuccessfully to cover up fear. Those in a different political party are not the other, non-Christians are not the other, gay people are not the other, black people are not the other, neurodiverse people are not the other, and the rich and the poor are not others.

Can’t you feel it? We are all one! I want to shout until my voice shakes. Can you not see it? Cannot you feel it? LOVE, LOVE. To think that anything other than love within you is not for you. Anything that separates or divides is not of love. Something that makes you or anything else feel lesser or an “other” is not love.

She who thinks it is one way or another has already lost and mistaken. He who retreats from each other out of fear has already lost everything. But, on the other hand, she who stays open in her heart despite fear leans in, and holds what she knows loosely will experience the fullness of life.

You know you are on the clear path in your life when you do not have to make yourself small, you do not lean away, and you can lean toward and open to love inside yourself no matter what occurs on the outside.
